I MISS JOONDALUP

Okay, okay, okay... I never thought I'd ever see myself write this, but I'm having HUGE "I miss home" issues right now, but its funny because I find myself not thinking of Australia, not even of Perth... but of Joondalup!!!! Who would have thought?!?!!?

Ohh but I'd give ANYTHING to be home right now, laying on the couch by the heater watching TV with my baby dogs. Ohh if I were Dorothy and had those rubby slippers, that's what I'd be wishing for. Oh and to see mum arriving from work and updating me on the gossip, and having meals with dad, talking about life... and of course seeing my sisters who I miss so much!!!!

Ohhhh 12th of November I'm going to be living it (except probably for the heater part). I can't wait!!!!

MY SISTER'S KEEPER

I've been reading this novel for the past week and only just finished it last night. It is so brutally real that i found myself not only lost in the story but also in tears, specially in the last chapter. I sat on the couch and cried for close to an hour.

It is probably the most moving book I have ever read, and I recommend it to everyone. Not only is it superbly written, it is also compelling and asks many ethical questions, but lets you see all points of view.

What is it about? A synopsys from the website...

"Anna is not sick, but she might as well be. By age thirteen, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and shots so that her older sister, Kate, can somehow fight the leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate - a life and a role that she has never questioned… until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister - and so Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable… a decision that will tear her family apart and have perhaps fatal consequences for the sister she loves. My Sister's Keeper examines what it means to be a good parent, a good sister, a good person. Is it morally correct to do whatever it takes to save a child's life… even if that means infringing upon the rights of another? Is it worth trying to discover who you really are, if that quest makes you like yourself less?"

Anyone who has a sibling, especially a sister, will relate with many of the feelings that Jodi Picoult expresses in her novel. Absolutely gripping.

LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE

I've seen quite a few movies this year, but none quite as good or uplifting as Little Miss Sunshine. The acting is awesome and the story line is quite creative. I know you all know me for having a varied taste in film, but I hope you don't judge me for liking things by the Farrelly and Wayans brothers, as Little Miss Sunshine is on a league of its own.

If you get a chance to catch this film, make sure you do go see it, you'll come out of the cinema feeling differently. Ahh life is good when you don't scheme and take yourself so seriously. We should always remember our essence and what we were like when we were kids.

FRIENDS

"My father always used to say that when you die, if you've got five real friends, then you've had a great life."
-Lee Iacocca

Thank you everyone for your friendship. I'm reflecting on friends, current and those that didn't stay very long. Friends in Australia, Malaysia, Puerto Rico and other parts of the world. Friends I've enjoyed living with... My life is wonderful because of all of you!

A special thanks to Evon, Natalia, Laura and Brea for teaching me that true friendship is constant and true friends will never leave you no matter where in the world you might find yourself.

TODAY'S MY BIRTHDAY

Despite what we are having to go through as an organisation here in the country, we managed to celebrate my birthday. Except for my family and my dear friends in Australia and Malaysia, everyone that had to be there was there for the day. I love you guys and I thank you for thinking of me.

Special thanks go to Natalia, Cristina, Kirsty and Janeth for organising the night. You guys are some of the best friends anyone could ever have. Thanks also to Maricel and Karlita for today and having lunch with us at Pizzeria Uno.

I love you all!!!
